4 Weeks Old!

Little Cameron is 4 weeks old today! I truly cannot believe that 4 weeks have passed since he was born. Time seems to pass so oddly. There are days where I think, "how is it still Tuesday? It has been Tuesday for a month!" And then you turn around and 4 weeks have passed, and I wonder where in the world it has gone!

Cameron finally got over his cold, thank goodness! But, of course, since he coughed and sneezed all over me, I got sick at the end of last week. Kevin's mother was here, and rearranged her trip to stay a few more days so I could get over the worst of it. She heads home tomorrow, and it will again be the 3 of us...and for the first time we'll all 3 be well!

We're on about a 4 hour feeding schedule right now, both day and night. In general, Kevin and I are feeling pretty good...I think we're just getting used to functioning with less sleep. More then anything, we are starting to enjoy the entire experience more. I just have to say, Kevin is the most amazing father. He has WAY more patience then I do, particularly when Cameron is fussy in the middle of the night. He changes diapers like a pro, and has the magic touch when it comes to getting Cameron to sleep. He has fantastic "Daddy intuition". Poor Cameron would be much worse off if he was stuck with just me!

Here are a few fun pics of our little guy, including his first tub bath!

Here's Cameron in his first tub bath. He loved it! He gets the most adorable blissed-out expression on his face. And it's super entertaining for Mom and Dad.

Here's a little video Kevin took of him - not the best quality since it's just with a webcam - but captures a nice little sneeze!

Bleh. Gets this expression from his Daddy.

Cameron resigned to being burped.

Bye bye!

More Photos of the Mini Man

Hi everyone!

Kevin has been so good, so diligent about updating the blog with photos and news. He thought it was time Cameron's Mommy weighed in on how things were going around the Clem household.

Life looks quite different on this side of delivery. I don't think you can ever be fully prepared for what it means to be a parent for the first time. All of those cliche things you hear about are true -- you don't get much sleep, you change a TON of diapers, you rarely make it through the day without being doused in spit-up, or in the case of a little boy, pee. We have to change his outfit 3 times a day because it usually ends up covered in some kind of yuck.

But it is the most amazing adventure we've ever been on. You are only a first time parent once. You only really stumble through these uncharted waters once. And so even now, when Kevin is bouncing Cameron at 2:30am trying to get him to go back to sleep, he'll look over at me and say, "He's absolutely beautiful". We are in awe of this little man. We'll look at each other and say, "look what we did!" Of course, that's not to say we don't give all the credit to God for this little miracle. But it is remarkable to look at Cameron and realize he is half-Kevin and half-me. It leaves us rather speechless.

Anyway, enough waxing poetic...I'll leave the humor to Kevin.

We took Cameron to the pediatrician last week for his week 1/post-hospital check up. At the time (a week ago) he had already gained 5 oz. from Sunday when we came home from the hospital, and was a 1/2 inch longer. Since then, the poor little guy has caught a cold. Lots of nasty congestion, which is actually probably harder on Mommy and Daddy then it is on him. He hacks and sneezes through the night, but rarely wakes himself up. Ah, I hear him now

Here are some more photos of little Cameron...ENJOY!

Oooooooh!

Oh, big yawn! It's exhausting being this cute.

One of our party favors from our Couples Shower was diapers with little messages on them, to spice up those middle of the night feedings. This special message came from Uncle Aaron, one of our dearest friends from college.

A Super Day in NYC!

Well SuperBowl Sunday was a big day for Cameron - he and Mommy got to come home from the hospital, and then he stayed up late to watch his NY Giants (he's a die hard Raiders fan but is a Giants fan by birth) pull the big upset over the Pats.

Here are some more pictures of the little guy as well as some with Mommy and Daddy.
Big grin - must have been thinking about his next meal!

One of his many supermodel poses - we call this one "Red Steel" (shameless Zoolander reference)

Cameron with Mommy all bundled up and ready to head home (thanks to his Great Aunt Dee for the cozy knit hat!)

The two redheads getting some one-on-one time.

The Clems 3 getting ready to head home from the hospital.

After 2 hours of discussing how Joe Torre will take our Dodgers to the World Series every year for the next 10 years, Cameron got a little worn out...

In case there was any doubt as to where Cameron gets his Clem ear...see Exhibit A above.

It is so great to have the little guy home - we are getting settled into our new routine (sleep, wake up, eat, change diaper, repeat) and thank all of your for the prayers for our little guy. Mommy is feeling much better and it has been great having our families here to make Cameron feels so welcome. For the rest of you, we'll be ready for visitors soon, so start booking your tickets to come and see the Little Red in the Big Apple!

As you can surely tell, we're a little partial to this guy. I am so excited to have Mommy home tomorrow. She is doing GREAT as a new Mom and as always, the world's best wife. More soon.
